Empowering Future Planners: MScPl Career Conversation

The Department of Geography and Planning hosted a MScPl Career Conversation for students, aimed at enhancing their competitive edge in the current job market through four sessions. This allowed students to meet and hear from panelists, hiring managers, and industry experts from the public and non-profit sectors.
 
Keynote speakers Zahra Ebrahim and Kofi Hope, Co-Founders at Monumental, along with panelists Sara Udow (plazaPOPS), Anna Wynveen (Bousfields Inc), Abbas N. Ali (Metrolinx), and Philip Parker (City of Toronto) shared their insights through panel discussions. 
 
Speed networking advisors, including Leigh McGrath (Urban Strategies Inc), Anson Ma (Urban Strategies Inc), Adrienne Pacini (SHS Consulting), Lakshmi Soundarapandian (SvN Architects + Planners), Anna Wynveen (Bousfields Inc), James A Perttula (City of Toronto), Michelle Kearns (Access Planning), Chiyi Tam (Toronto Chinatown Land Trust), Corwin Cambray (City of Toronto), Joanna Ilunga (Infrastructure Ontario), and Sharon Hong (ERA Architects), engaged students one-on-one, offering guidance and answering questions.

 

 
Matti Siemiatycki expressed gratitude, saying, "Many thanks to everyone who participated in the inaugural MScPl Career Conversation event. The event engaged current UofT planning students with a wide range of city-building practitioners, many of whom are our program grads! Discussions and speed networking focused on career inspiration and practical advice on landing a job."
