Academic Events at the Department of Geography & Planning

The Department of Geography & Planning is proud to sponsor a range of academic events and scholarly programming throughout the year. These include public talks by our Bousfield Visitors, guest academic lectures in our Intersections Speaker Series, and other talks by academics from around the world on topics like critical geographies, geographic information science, urban planning, and more. 

Sponsorship and Co-Sponsorship of Academic Events

Sponsorship and co-sponsorship of academic events provide a way to signal the potential relevance of an event to the broader academic community. Sponsorship/co-sponsorship entails permission to use the Department’s logo on promotional materials for the event and may include some element of material support. In the spirit of the University of Toronto’s Statement of Institutional Purpose, sponsored/co-sponsored events may “raise deeply disturbing questions and provocative challenges to the cherished beliefs of society at large and of the university itself” which are not necessarily endorsed by the entire Department.
