Biography
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Planning at the University of Toronto focusing my academic career on issues of environmental justice. I have an MS in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. For my dissertation research, I am studying how government and non-government actors have been influencing the location of informal housing in areas of environmental risk in São Paulo, Brazil. I have also worked as a research assistant on multiple projects related to environmental risks in urban settings in both the USA and Canada, particularly, I worked on projects that study flood risk in Austin, TX, Houston, TX, and Toronto. I have also worked on a research project that studies the relationship between health and the built environment. Before shifting to planning, I worked as an architect for a few years, and still have a passion for architecture and design.
