Biography

My research focuses on integrating behavioral insights into transportation policy planning to decarbonize the mobility system. I combine the fields of urban planning, behavioral science, and social psychology to enhance our knowledge of how individuals make travel choices, and to inform policy-making towards sustainable transportation. I employ interdisciplinary theory and methods based on my training in urban and regional planning, statistics, transportation planning, and geographic information science. My research program addresses many applications and examples of sustainable behavior, technology, and policy, particularly reducing automobile travel, promoting active modes of walking and cycling, and designing multimodal urban transportation systems. My current postdoctoral work explores the adoption potential and barriers of emerging mobility and technology services such as bike sharing, electric cargo bicycles, ride-hailing services, and on-demand transit in the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area (GTHA).

In addition to my research work, I have taught various planning courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including Sustainable Land Use Planning (UT Austin), Public Economics and Finance (UT Austin), Geographic Information Systems (BUET), Housing (BUET), and Transportation Planning (BUET). I have received prestigious awards such as the Fulbright Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Prime Minister Gold Medal Award from the Government of Bangladesh.
