Biography

I am an environmental geographer who researches the complex relationship between humans and their environment, focusing on how this relationship shapes behaviour, participation, and decision-making. In particular, my work critically examines public participation in the environmental governance of land in settler-defined Canada, considering dynamics of power and epistemological pluralism. I ask questions of 'who' is participating, 'why' they are participating, and 'how' their participation affects the decisions that are made.
I have an interdisciplinary background, with previous work focusing on an array of topics like citizen science, ticks and Lyme disease, environmental volunteers, community-based conservation, harm reduction, and housing/homelessness policy.
