Agnes Wong, Co-President

Hi everyone! I’m Agnes, and I'm currently in my fourth and final year of my undergraduate degree doing a double major in Human Geography and Ethics, Society and Law while also completing the Sustainability Certificate. As one of the Co-Presidents, I’m excited to connect and grow friendships between you, the rest of the executive, the Geography & Planning Department and other fellow campus groups! You can look forward to information about our events via our Instagram page (@tugs.uoft), Quercus and in-class announcements! Don’t hesitate to reach out to TUGS with any questions or concerns and I look forward to a great year with you all!

Karl Abian, Co-President

Hey everyone! I’m in my last year doing a Specialist in Human Geography with a focus in Urban Geography and a major in Canadian Studies. I’m excited to be back for another year of TUGS as your Co-President. As part of my role, I’m hoping to get to know you guys in the program. As an added goal for both me and the other presidents, we hope to bring in folks in the Geography program from UTSC and UTM, as we are one of the few programs that stretches across all 3 campuses. My courses this year focus on Environmental Impact Assessments, Transportation Geography, Environmental Governance, as well as Social Policy and Planning. If you see me around, don't hesitate to say hi!

Natali Keckesova, Vice President

Hi everyone! My name is Natali and I am so excited to be this year’s Vice President! I am currently in my fourth year studying Human Geography with a focus in Planning, Environmental Geography, and GIS. I love learning how the built environment impacts our everyday life and the ways we can change the urban setting to improve both the environment's and the population’s well-being. Outside of school, I love going on hikes (or even just walks with my dog), baking, crocheting, and grabbing coffee with friends! I’m looking forward to meeting the geography community at TUGS events :)

Stanford Chang, Director of Communications

Hello! My name is Stanford and I am currently in my third year completing a Human Geography Specialist with a minor in GIS. Ever since I found a world atlas after just learning how to read, geography has felt like home to me in school. I am particularly fascinated by the power of maps in data visualization and storytelling. I look forward to connecting with other geography students!

Enzo Luca Fouquet, Secretary

Hello! I’m Enzo, I’m TUGS secretary and a second year at UofT St.Geroge studying political science and Geography with focus in Planning. I grew up in Florida and love Toronto. I enjoy nature, reading biking drawing and just talking to people! I love geography because it provides the tools to understand the spatial relationships of the world around us. Urban planning in particular is crucial in the era of urbanization that we live in. I want to help build our urban future and want to engage students at UofT in urban issues.

Avila Zhang, Social Coordinator

Hi there, my name is Avila, I’m a double major in Human Geography and Urban Studies with a minor in Visual Studies. I’m also self-studying architectural design. I chose to pursue these fields because I have lived in and travelled to many different cities and countries, and I’m eager to understand how human societies and urban development evolve in response to geographical environments, and how these environments, in turn, shape human civilization. In the future, I hope to work in urban planning and architecture, using my knowledge to improve environments and enhance human well-being. Outside of my studies, I enjoy books, sports, music, movies, and photography. Glad to meet everyone!

Ella Baker, DEl Officer

Hello! I am in my second year and am majoring in Human Geography—focus in Planning—with a double minor in Environmental Biology and GIS. I started university in the Life Sciences program, but found a new passion for human geography after taking courses like Cities and Urban Life (GGR124) and more. As the diversity, equity, and inclusion officer, I am focused on creating a positive and inclusive space within the department and TUGS. I am interested and always open to listening to any DEI concerns you may have and will work hard to address any issues, so please feel free to reach out!

Margad Sukhbaatar, Outreach Coordinator

Hi everyone, my name is Margad (she/her) and I am currently a third-year student doing a specialist in Human Geography with a focus in planning, and with minors in both Environmental Geography and Political Science at the moment. My personal experiences and background lead me to be passionate about how communities and individuals are shaped by our built environments, and how we can navigate these changing environments in the future. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking and being outdoors but also like to knit, bake, or read in my free time. I look forward to getting to know and meet more people in the Geography community at UofT!

Kasandra Tworzyansk, Geographic Information Systems Representative

Hi everyone! I am the GIS representative for TUGS this year. I’m in my fourth year, studying Physical and Environmental Geography, GIS, and Statistics. I discovered my interest in geography in my first year, and since then, I’ve been excited to explore urban data and city planning with an environmental focus. I look forward to creating events that connect the geography community and offer insights from professors on futures in geography. Outside of school, you can usually find me spending time outside, running long distances, discovering new music, or cooking. Looking forward to seeing you at our events!

Linnea Karlsson, Human Geography Representative

Hi! My name is Linnea and I am so excited to be this year’s Human Geography representative! I am currently in my third year studying Human Geography with a focus in Planning and a Certificate in Sustainability. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand, but raised in Manila, Philippines, and recently moved to Toronto for university. My passion for geography, urban planning and sustainable development stems from rising inequalities particularly in developing countries like The Philippines. As a person with a multicultural background, geography has always played a significant role in my life. Outside of university, I like to thrift, explore new coffee shops, and restaurants. I look forward to working with the team and meeting everyone in the Geography community :)
